Building Pressure Could Open New Vent At Kīlauea Volcano In Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park

Pressure building inside the Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō crater on Kīlauea Volcano at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park could lead to a new vent at any time, according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

The Nature Conservancy Transfers 222 Acres To Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park

A 222-acre property at the southern end of Hawaiʻi Island has been transferred from The Nature Conservancy to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. TNC purchased the property to preserve it for conservation. The parcel extends along 1.6 miles of Highway 11 between the towns of Ocean View and Nāʻālehu in the Kaʻū district.

Explore Thurston Lava Tube At Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park By Flashlight

Beginning today, visitors to the popular Thurston Lava Tube (Nāhuku) in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park can choose to the explore the cave in the dark with their own light source, or time their trip to coincide with a new lighting schedule.

Annual Pass For Three National Parks In Hawaii Could Go Up In Price

National Park Service officials in Hawaii are thinking of boosting the cost of a pass that gets you into three parks: Hawai‘i Volcanoes and Haleakalā national parks, and Pu‘uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park.
