Hawaiians now have a new way to support their national parks: Buy a specialty license plate. The colorful, iconic scenes from Haleakalā National Park and Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park will both showcase the natural wonders and provide funding to the parks when purchased.

Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park rangers on Monday were investigating how a 38-year-old man came to fall 250 feet to his death inside Kīlauea Caldera. The man's body was recovered by park rangers early Sunday morning near the bottom of the caldera.

Three fatalities, one in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, one in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and a third in Zion National Park in recent days drive home the message to be careful when you're on your national park vacation. The death at Hawai'i Volcanoes was tied to a vehicle accident, the one at Great Smoky involved a man falling from the top of the Ramsey Cascades waterfall, and in Zion a man possibly fell to his death from an arch.

Entrance fees at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park will go up Thursday, June 1, the final fee increase under a three-phase plan.
