Farmers Sought For Manassas National Battlefield Park's Landscapes

As part of its mission, the National Park Service at Manassas National Battlefield Park in Virginia strives to maintain the historic look of some of its landscapes. Since many of those acres were farmed when the Civil War arrived at Manassas, the Park Service is offering for lease 13 parcels for agricultural use.

National Parks In Maryland, Virginia And DC Provide More Than 75,000 Meals To Neighbors With Donated Venison

Six national parks in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia have concluded annual operations to reduce overabundant white-tailed deer. The parks, ranging from Civil War battlefields to urban sites, donated more than 19,000 pounds of venison, equalling over 75,000 meals to local nonprofits. These nonprofits serve meals locally and across the region to families in need.

Manassas National Battlefield Park Will Begin Deer Management Operations In 2019

To protect and restore native vegetation, promote healthy and diverse forests and protect historic landscapes, Manassas National Battlefield Park will implement previously approved white-tailed deer management plans for the first time. The window for deer population reduction at the park is January 2 through March 15, 2019.
