NPCA Suggests Expanding Santa Monica Mountains NRA to Encompass Rim of the Valley Corridor

With time running down on the public's opportunity to comment on a proposal to add another unit to the National Park System in California, the National Parks Conservation Association is suggesting that the effort result in an enlarged Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

That was the driver between the Yellowstone-to-Yukon initiative, the dilemma faced by the Florida panther, and now being displayed at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in California.

National Park Service Sets Meetings For "Rim of Valley Corridor" Special Resource Study

A series of meetings to discuss whether an area of southern California that generally includes the mountains encircling the San Fernando, La Crescenta, Santa Clarita, Simi and Conejo Valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura counties should be added to the National Park System will be held from mid-September into October.
