A decision Thursday by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to deny wolverines protection under the Endangered Species Act prompted a coalition of groups to announce plans to sue the agency of that decision.

According to the National Park Service, there are over 5,000 miles of paved roads through the National Park System. Park roads (paved or unpaved) allow us to reach amazing vistas we might not otherwise see within a national park, national monument, or national recreation area. These roads are marvels of construction and merit a nod of appreciation to those builders who may have risked life and limb to ensure completion of that navigable ribbon of gravel or pavement. It could take a week before the road between Mud Volcano and Fishing Bridge Junction in Yellowstone National Park reopens, as cleanup of a gasoline spill involved digging a 100-foot wide, 100-foot-long, and 10-foot-deep hole, the park announced Tuesday evening.
