Named in the 1880's after the morning glory flower, the colors of Morning Glory Pool have changed considerably, from a clear, sapphire blue to a much greener hue, due to a drop in temperature and orange and yellow bacteria spreading toward the center of the pool.

In Yellowstone National Park, sometimes autumn lasts for only a few days before snowy, winter-like weather takes over. The Firehole River runs through Upper Geyser Basin and, along with the geysers and hot sptings, produces steamy scenes in freezing weather.

A study into the experiences of backpackers in Yellowstone National Park came away with the conclusion that almost all had a great experience. Most said they didn't think the park's backcountry was crowded, and they had no problem with the fees they had to pay.

55 Bison Successfully Transferred From Yellowstone To Fort Peck Tribes

In a historic conservation moment, bison will now begin new lives at the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Yellowstone National Park completed the first transfer of bison to the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Poplar, Montana under the operational quarantine program. Fifty-five male bison completed Phases I & II of the brucellosis quarantine protocol at Yellowstone and will finish assurance testing (Phase III) at Fort Peck.
