Camping in Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park offers some gorgeous camping options for those toting a tent or pulling an RV.

Camping in style at Bryce Canyon National Park / NPS file

The park has two campgrounds, North and Sunset, located in close proximity to the Visitor Center, Bryce Canyon Lodge and the geologic wonder that is the Bryce Amphitheater. Both have restrooms with flush toilets, and drinking water.

During the summer months coin-operated laundry and shower facilities are available at the general store near Sunrise Point. There are no hook-ups in the campgrounds, but a fee-for-use dump station is available for RV users at the south end of North Campground.

Both campgrounds are located in ponderosa pine forest habitat with equal amounts of shade and sun, giving them a similar appearance. Per-night fees are $30 per site per night for tent camers and RVers. Holders of special park passes; Lifetime Senior Pass, Annual Senior Pass, and Access Pass receive a 50% discount. Sites fill by early afternoon during the summer months. Click here for a map of Sunset Campground, and here for a map of North Campground. A group site is available in Sunset Campground for up to 30 people.

North Campground

North Campground site, Bryce Canyon National Park / NPS file

Located across the road to the east of Bryce Canyon Visitor Center, North Campground is open year-round, with 100 sites (46 tent only; 50 RV only; no ADA accessible sites) in 4 loops; A, B, C, D (C & D are for tents only, though tenters can also use A and B.). Cost is $30 per site/per night for tent campers and RVers. The campground is close to shuttle stops at the Visitor Center, General Store, and Fairyland Loop/Rim Trail. In winter, plenty of sunshine for generating solar electric power and plowed roads make it hospitable for offseason visitors. January 1 - May 17, and October 8 - December 1 are first-come, first-served. May 18 - October 7, campsites may be reserved up to six months in advance through recreation.gov. Check the park's website for specific dates as they may change depending upon the weather.

There are no sewer, water or electrical hook-ups available. A dump station is available in summer months at the south end of the campground at no cost for those staying in the campground. Potable water is available near the dump station.

Cell coverage is iffy, and there is no WiFi signal. Flush toilets are available year-round. There are no showers, and portable showers are not allowed.

*NOTE: During winter months all sites/loops may not be open due to winter weather conditions, such as freezing temperatures and deep snow.

Sunset Campground

Sunset Campground site, Bryce Canyon National Park / NPS file

This seasonal campground (closed during winter) is located west of Sunset Point, approximately 1.5 miles south of the Bryce Canyon Visitor Center. Similar to North Campground, it’s within easy walking and biking distance to trails and attractions. You can even put your bike on a shuttle and tour different locations in the park.

The campground features 100 sites (50 tent only; 50 RV only; this includes 2 ADA accessible sites #223 & #224) in 3 loops; A, B, & C. Cost is $30 per site/per night for tent campers and RVers.  April 15 - May 17, and October 8 - October 31 are first-come, first-served. May 18 - October 7, campsites may be reserved up to 14 days in advance through recreation.gov. Check the park's website for specific dates as they may change depending upon the weather.

To reserve either of the two ADA-accessible sites, you may send your request to: Bryce Canyon National Park, PO Box 640201, Bryce, UT 84764, Attention: Campground Supervisor. Or, you may leave a message on the Campground phone: 435-834-4771. Be sure to include your name, contact information (phone # and/or email address) and the dates you wish to reserve. If ADA sites are available, they can also be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis by inquiring with the campground host.

This campground is closest to the best hiking trails which begin and end at Sunset Point.

Space is available for RV and trailer combinations up to 40 feet in length. There are no sewer, water or electrical hook-ups available. A dump station is available in summer months near North Campground and is free for those staying in the campground. Potable water is available near the dump station.

There is limited cell reception, but no WiFi.
