Sequoia trees and a rushing river are depicted on the holiday ornament for Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks.

A scene from Alaska's outback is featured on the holiday ornament for Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve.

A clear, starry sky is depicted on Great Basin National Park's holiday ornament.

Cliff dwellings are depicted in Mesa Verde National Park's holiday ornament.

A beacon from a lighthouse cuts through the winter on Acadia National Park's holiday ornament.

A Civil War snowball fight is depicted on the holiday ornament for Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park.

Oarmen working their way down the tumultuous Gauley River in West Virginia are featured on the Gauley River NRA's holiday ornament.

Yosemite's ornament was designed by local artist Penny Otwell. Her work has been featured in numerous locations in the Yosemite area, including regularly at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite Valley. Ms. Otwell attended the reception at the White House hosted by First Lady Laura Bush on November 28.

"To stand side-by-side with the other artists that contributed to this tree was a great honor. Hearing the First Lady speak of her love for the National Parks was a very moving experience." said Otwell.

The Olympic National Park ornament was hand-painted by the park Landscape Architect Jack Galloway, using a rich palette of greens and blues to depict the park’s diverse features. Coastline, deep forests, and glacier-capped peaks form the backdrop, while salmon swim in the rivers and ocean, elk browse in subalpine meadows and a tribal canoe travels along the coast.

"Jack’s creative genius and technical skill came together to produce an ornament that beautifully represents Olympic’s varied resources,” said Olympic National Park Superintendent Bill Laitner.
