This photo is of Miners Castle, which is among the more scenic places at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, in Northern Michigan along the shores of Lake Superior. This photo is taken by a friend of mine, Craig Rademacher. Craig's the editor of the ParkCast, a website and podcast about multimedia offerings available from the National Parks. Craig had been on a 4 month hiatus with the site and podcast, but I'm happy to see he is back. His latest podcast covers the latest iPods available from Apple, and at about 10 minutes into the broadcast, he interviews Chief of Heritage Education, Gregg Bruff, of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Craig says of this photo,

This was the last shot of the day after a full day of hiking at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. I stopped by Miner's Castle and took this shot from the visitor center overlook. The light seemed to work and brought the amazing colors out of the water out. It was a nice way to end a beautiful early fall day.

I can tell you, there used to be more to the Castle, but in April of 2006, there was a rockfall, and the turret collapsed. You can read more about that event here.
