As demonstrated by the photo AMOYs are large colorful birds easily recognised and appreciated by visitors to CAHA. The NP proactively manages their breeding habitat. AMOYs are a listed species of special concern in NC and breeding birds are more diligently protected by NPS mangers. Organised opposition from ORV groups persists when management protocols temporarily restricts access .
If NC lists them as special concern then why does the NPS treat them as endangered? Fledge rates have shown no significant increase since the NPS changed their management practices but has resulted in closed beaches to ALL, not just ORVs. The "temporarily restricts access" lasts for months, well into the summer tourist season. Therefore the pro access and ORV groups are fighting against the excessive restrictions imposed on ALL forms of access. USFWS found no significant impact based on previous resource management practices, so these new excessive restrictions are not nessecary.
There they go again! The ding-blasted NPS is restricting my RIGHT to take my ORV and go blasting down the beach to see how many of those little critters I can run over. The only solution to this is to eliminate all the pesky things so there will be no reason to prevent us from exercising our God given right to take our motormachines anywhere we want to take them any time we want to take them.
The Constitution doesn't have anything in it about little things with feathers. SO THERE!
Lee, your ignorance is on full display today. I am sure that what you have been told to believe. Too bad you can't think for yourself. Pedestrian access is being denied as well, but you didn't mock that because you can't handle the truth.
Lee, can me and my 50 friends join you on your ORV ride? We can all ride side by side, and sweep the entire beach clean of those dumb beach creatures that are invading our space.
I completely expect this kind mockery from the NPS, vile and decitful people. No wonder people don't like the NPS anymore and thier continued fall of relevancy is on your shoulders. Nice work.
Lee, did you miss beachdumbs comment that all forms of access being blocked? How about the comment that NPS restrictions have had no positive affect? Perhaps those comments are wrong. If so, i would respect your refutation. But just to cast aspertions with no substance is unpersuasive.
