The winter of 2011-2011 has gotten off to a veerryyyy slow start in Yosemite National Park, with the Tioga Road still open in early January and climbers reaching the top of a snowless Half Dome.
Fortunately, park videographer Steven Bumgardner reached into his vault to create this special feature that shows winter as it's supposed to be in the Range of Light.
Enjoy the masterful work of nature and Mr. Bumgardner.

"Supposed to look like" may be the wrong phrase; how about "usually looks like"? Who are we to put a judgment on the earth?
The day this was posted, I drove up to Tioga Pass and spent the day taking pictures. The lack of snow was pretty amazing/alarming, but it was nice to be able to see Tenaya Lake and the Tuolumne River frozen solid, something you don't normally see.
I posted a set of pictures on Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sf-mike-57/sets/72157628820336409/
