Demand for the great outdoors isn't only creating user issues for recreation.gov, but also for the backcountry campsite reservations system used by Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
Earlier this month folks turning to the system to book backcountry excursions ran into technical issues that prevented them from making a reservation. On Wednesday park staff said the camping permit reservation system "is experiencing technical difficulties again due to the volume of visitors trying to make July wilderness backcountry overnight camping permit reservations. We continue to work with Pay.gov on this issue."
"We plan to reinitiate the rollout and will not be taking reservations today. Later this week we will provide further information on how July, August, September and October wilderness backcountry overnight permit reservations will be implemented," the staff said.
