A search was underway Monday in Grand Teton National Park for a missing hiker. Cian McLaughlin hadn't been seen since last week/NPS, HO
Grand Teton National Park rangers had little to go on Monday in their search for a 27-year-old man who has been missing since last week.
Cian McLaughlin failed to show up at his job after he was thought to have headed into the park to hike, a park release said. He was reported missing to the Teton County (Wyoming) Sheriff's Office on Saturday, and the Teton Interagency Dispatch Center was notified Sunday morning.
Park staff located McLaughlin’s vehicle at the Lupine Meadows Trailhead on Sunday. A ground and aerial search was immediately initiated in probable locations that he may have been hiking.
McLaughlin’s route is unknown, a park release said. He could be hiking in the Garnet Canyon, Surprise, Amphitheater, Delta, or Taggart Lakes area. Aerial reconnaissance and ground search operations were conducted in high probability areas in the park on Sunday, June 13, in search of McLaughlin with no evidence or leads about his whereabouts. Search operations were to continue early Monday morning.
As his plans were unclear, anyone who has been traveling in the Teton backcountry since Tuesday, June 8, may have seen McLaughlin. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should contact the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch: Call or text the tip line: 888-653-0009. I have a drone and can cover a lot of ground quickly. I can also, view close up, such as in the trees. I would be happy to help find him but I would need permission to fly the drone in the national park.
