Your support can help keep the Traveler's writers and editors on the job/Patrick Cone

The National Parks Traveler’s fans are responding! It has been heartwarming to see you answer our final plea by donating roughly $12,000 in the first week to ensure that the Traveler can stay afloat and continue its coverage of national parks, protected areas, and the National Park Service.

But we are still a very long way from where we need to be — $400,000 to manage basic operations. So we encourage you to spread the word among friends who appreciate good journalism and coverage about our parks.

There are so many reasons that warrant keeping the National Parks Traveler alive! Here are just a few:

  • The Traveler’s close eye on how the Park Service manages the more than 420 federal park units that we all love and enjoy.
  • The Traveler’s watchdog coverage how Congress conducts its oversight of the agency.
  • The Traveler’s writers and editors who ferret out compelling park stories on topics like biodiversity, the health of key species, historic and cultural news, and reasons to visit lesser known park units.
  • The Traveler’s focus on the impact of climate change in our parks.
  • The Traveler’s weekly podcast featuring conversations and insights from park managers, park advocates, and other individuals and organizations in environmental circles key to the parks.
  • And of course, given the current tech landscape, the Traveler conducts its own journalism and does not rely on AI for its coverage.

What other publication even approaches the comprehensive niche that the Traveler fills? These are just a few keys to the Traveler’s value at a time when so many news organizations are going dark.

If you agree this coverage if vital, please sign up to contribute at least $10 a month — just $120 a year — to help ensure it continues. And if you work for a company in the outdoor industry, see if it will contribute as well.

Support National Parks Traveler

Your support for the National Parks Traveler comes at a time when news organizations are finding it hard, if not impossible, to stay in business. Traveler's work is vital. For nearly two decades we've provided essential coverage of national parks and protected areas. With the Trump administration’s determination to downsize the federal government, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s approach to public lands focused on energy exploration, it’s clear the Traveler will have much to cover in the months and years ahead. We know of no other news organization that provides such broad coverage of national parks and protected areas on a daily basis. Your support is greatly appreciated.

I was not able to donate on my phone. After clicking on donate the window that appeared was blank. I ended up using my laptop and the captcha puzzle failed to load the first time but I was successful the second time. Just passing along in case it helps others make a donation (try using laptop or desktop computer if having issues with your phone).
