Parts of Cape Breton Highlands National Park have been closed while staff hunt for an aggressive coyote that bit a cyclist on the Cabot Trail.

Canada has announced $825,000 ($608,00 USD) over three years will be given to Makivvik Corp. to support the development of two new Guardians Programs to provide an Inuit presence in Torngat Mountains National Park.

An unmistakable flash of dark brown fur moving through the greenery caught my eye as I drove down the Trans-Canada Highway hugging the coast of Lake Superior. It was a moose, a young one, and it was alone. Wide-eyed, it stared at my rental car as I pulled over on the shoulder. I could see it gauging whether I was a threat and weighing its options.

Parks Canada has identified 13 actions it promises to take to help strengthen relationships with Indigenous peoples, green operations, enhance connectivity between protected areas, support the development of diverse, sustainable tourism opportunities across the country, and ensure that everyone can meaningfully experience the natural and cultural heritage places it protects.
