Two national parks in British Columbia have launched smoking restrictions to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires.

Bellevue House National Historic Site has a new management plan that promises an evolving understanding of the controversial legacy of Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada' first prime minister and the politician who helped to create residential schools that forcibly separated Indigenous children from their families and sent them to boarding schools where they were often abused and humiliated.

High water temperatures have prompted Gros Morne National Park to close several rivers and brooks, including all tributaries and connected ponds, to fishing.

Parks Canada fire management crews continue to monitor the Uto Wildfire in Glacier National Park in British Columbia by helicopter and are using a remote camera for real-time updates. They have completed a fire analysis and outlined strategies to manage the fire that may include options to use natural features and/or back burning to contain the fire.
