You could be excused if you only chose to spend a couple of hours touring Badlands National Park from your car, since there aren’t many trails and most of what you can see is from the road and overlooks. That would be a shame, though, because there is plenty to do in and around Badlands for a good three-day stay.

Three Winter Days At Great Sand Dunes National Park And Preserve

There’s something to be said for spending a few winter days at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado. Crowds are non-existent and there’s plenty of solitude. Three Days In Death Valley National Park

Death Valley National Park covers much more acreage than just the valley itself. It’s the largest U.S. national park outside of Alaska at 3,422,024 acres. With a park that size, you probably aren’t going to see everything you want in the space of a day or a week, for that matter. But you can still see and do plenty, even if you have no more than three days.

Three Days In Saguaro National Park

Saguaro National Park covers little more than 90,000 acres, which is small compared to Yellowstone or Death Valley national parks, and less than a quarter the size of nearby Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. But that doesn't mean you should take a windshield tour of Saguaro and be gone in 24 hours.

Three Days In Redwood National And State Parks

While on assignment for the Traveler, photographer Rebecca Latson visited Redwood National and State Parks in California. She returned from her trip with many photos and the realization that while Redwoods is mostly about the trees, this collaboration of national and state parks also offers prairie and coastal venues, all with enough to do and see for at least three days.
