UPDATE | Flooding, Rock Slides Force Closure Of Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park closed all entrances Monday as flooding and rock and mud slides chewed away at park roads, forcing the evacuation of visitors in northern areas of the park due to "extremely hazardous conditions." With the potential for severe flooding in the southern half of the park, officials made the decision to shutter the entire park. Dramatic aerial footage captured by the park's helicopter manager demonstrated the damage being inflicted on the park.

Blue Ridge Parkway Detour Around Laurel Fork Bridge Project

Work has begun on a $29 million project to replace the Laurel Fork Bridge on the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 248.8 in Ashe County, North Carolina. A full park closure to all uses in the immediate vicinity of the bridge is expected to be in place this week. Work is expected to take over two years to complete, with a target completion date of November 2024.

Booker T. Washington National Monument To Host Juneteenth 2022

Booker T. Washington National Monument in Virginia is scheduled to present Juneteenth 2022 on Saturday, June 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Juneteenth, short for June nineteenth, has long served as a celebration date for the effective end of slavery in the United States. The date became a federal holiday in 2021.

Schuyler House Opening At Saratoga National Historical Park

The Schuyler House at Saratoga National Historical Park in upstate New York is scheduled to open for the summer season on June 10. The house will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through October 22. Tours will begin at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. An open house period will follow from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Entrance is free, and the first floor is accessible for all visitors.
