Court Ruling Opens Up Land Next To Glacier National Park To Energy Development

A court ruling that opens the door for energy development on a roadless area of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest located adjacent to Glacier National Park, the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex, and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation has drawn criticism from tribes and conservation groups who have appealed the decision.

Redwood National and State Parks Superintendent Steve Mietz was honored and recognized with the National Park Service Director’s Award as Superintendent of the Year for Natural Resource Stewardship for his work in implementing landscape scale watershed conservation efforts with park partners and local tribes.
