With spring runoff growing by the day, Lake Powell's water level is increasing about a foot a day, according to the National Park Service.

Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park in Virginia will offer ranger-guided walks of Civil War army trenches on Sunday mornings, May 21, June 4, September 17, and October 1. The walks begin at 10 a.m. and last about an hour.

A 1,000-acre patch of forestlands in Virginia has been added to Shenandoah National Park thanks to the efforts of the Shenandoah National Park Trust and the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation.

Nearly three decades after it took the involvement of President Clinton to stop a gold mine from being developed on the eastern doorstep of Yellowstone National Park, and five years after the Trump administration withdrew 30,000 acres north of the park from mineral development, a grassroots effort is underway to buy out a fledgling mine project that would be visible from the park and could theoretically send pollution down into the Yellowstone River.
