The sale of 640 acres within Grand Teton National Park from the state of Wyoming to the Interior Department was finalized Monday, ensuring permanent protection for the parcel that is key for migratory wildlife and erasing concerns that the property might have been sold for development.

It's been a tumultuous four years for the National Park System and the National Park Service, with powerful storms and wildfires sweeping the parks, insufficient funding and declining staff when you consider the addition of ten units since President Biden took office, and some questionable decisions.

Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, which straddles Kentucky and Tennessee, recently repaired 16 miles of the Cumberland Valley Loop Horseback Riding Trail, located in the heart of the park's trail system.
