Traveler contributing photographer Rebecca Latson was always told to use a tripod for really sharp landscape shots, as well as providing stability for heavy telephoto lenses capturing wildlife portraits. After years of camerawork and tens of thousands of images, however, Rebecca believes you don’t always need a tripod.

Record $100 Million Grant To Benefit National Park Service Employees, Parks

A record-setting $100 million grant to the National Park Foundation from Lilly Endowment, Inc., is expected to help the Park Service cope with climate change impacts to the parks, inspire young adults to connect with nature, and help "ensure the health and longevity of the fragile ecosystems and diverse species" that inhabit park lands.

Swiftcurrent Area Of Glacier Park Closes September 16 Through Mid-May 2026

On September 16, 2024, the Swiftcurrent area of the Many Glacier Valley in Glacier National Park will be closed for road, parking, and pedestrian safety improvements and a water system replacement. The closure will be in place during the fall of 2024, lasting through mid-May 2026. During this time, the construction zone will be closed to vehicles, bikes and foot traffic.
