A short trail -- actually, an old road -- in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve has been opened to bicycle use.

Unless Congress averts a staggering budget "sequestration" early next year the National Park System will be devastated by underfunding that could force the Park Service to shutter more than 100 parks, according to the National Parks Conservation Association.

It's being bill as "the most dangerous weekend of the year" at Biscayne National Park. "It" is Columbus Day Weekend, when the Annual Columbus Day Regatta sets sail.
