Senate Passes Public Lands Funding Bill

Senate passage Wednesday of the Great American Outdoors Act would, if the House concurs, send $6.5 billion to the National Park Service to address a bit more than half of the maintenance backlog that touches most, if not all, of the 419 unit of the National Park System. How that money, if provided, would be divvied up among the parks remains to be seen.

UPDATE | Supreme Court Says Gas Pipeline Can Cross Appalachian Trail

In a 7-2 ruling Monday the U.S. Supreme Court said an energy company could run a gas pipeline across the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Virginia, holding that the National Park Service controls just an easement to the land traversed by the iconic foot path without authority to block the project.
