One of the first Executive Orders from the Trump Whitehouse is to reverse environmental protections for federal lands in Alaska and hasten, expand, and encourage resource development.

Interior Department staff Monday had no information on when a hiring freeze impacting seasonal and full-time positions at the National Park Service will be lifted.

While some members of the U.S. House of Representatives have raised the possibility of selling public lands to help offset the costs of President Trump's agenda, legislation that would block the Interior and Agriculture departments from disposing of any lands has been introduced to that chamber.

More than 1,000 seasonal positions for the National Park Service have been put on hold by the Trump administration, which is notifying those told they had jobs that the offers they received have been withdrawn.
