Fall, Just Another Great Season In The Parks

September into the heart of November are my favorite months in the National Park System. The days aren’t quite as long as they are in July and August, but the bugs and crowds are on the wane, wildlife is on the move, and the crisp night air is perfect for sleeping under the stars, or in a cozy cabin.

Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Officials Worried About Proposed Pig Farm

A proposed commercial pig farm in Wisconsin could greatly affect Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, where the superintendent is worried that runoff would boost phosphorous loads in Lake Superior and also could harm piping plovers, a species listed as "endangered" under the Endangered Species Act.
