It's still a bit early to predict what winter might throw at the National Park System, but if you enjoy snow and cold here's an overview of some of the parks you should consider visiting.

The Sequoia Parks Conservancy, in partnership with the National Park Service, will host the Dark Sky Festival at Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks this coming weekend. This year’s festival, themed “Discover the Dark,” is packed with stargazing, science, and community events that promise to deepen your connection with the night sky and highlight the importance of preserving natural darkness.

Dangerous heat waves were reaching into the National Park System on Sunday, with Death Valley National Park told to expect a high temperature Sunday of 129° Fahrenheit, and parts of Sequoia National Park were eyeing 113°F.

Summer hasn't even arrived yet fire restrictions have been put into place at Kings Canyon and Sequoia national parks in California.
