Yellowstone National Park Officials Looking To See Bison Population Dropped By Up To 1,000 This Winter

Upwards of 1,000 Yellowstone National Park bison could meet their demise this winter, either through hunting in Montana or through shipment to slaughter houses or research facilities, so as to contain the size of the park's herd and to reduce the "potential for a mass migration of bison into Montana."

In an editorial on November 17, the Billings Gazette endorsed the park's proposal, urging readers to "... speak up. Tell the NPS to proceed with the fee increases..."
