Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky is a World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve. It was designated a national park in 1926 and fully established and opened in 1941 -- 80 years ago. At 412 miles, the cave itself is nearly twice as long as any other known cave system. Geologists believe there may even be a couple more hundred miles of undiscovered passageways.
The Traveler's Lynn Riddick takes us underground at Mammoth Cave and taps into insights and anecdotes from park personnel about the historic and geologic wonders that tell the story of this unique landscape.

Once again, another great podcast with Lynn Riddick. She asks questions I would ask, and questions I might not think to ask. It brings back memories of my own visits to Mammoth Cave National park when I was in college, decades ago. I remember bits and pieces of the ranger-led Wild Cave Tour and distinctly remember turning out my light with the rest of the group to see what *real* dark in a cave is all about. I remember having a snack in the Snowball Dining Room and especially appreciated the nice, cool temperature of the cave compared to the heat and humidity of a Kentucky summer.
I am so happy that you enjoy my podcasts, and I appreciate the time you take to offer your feedback. I'm glad my trip to Mammoth Cave NP brought back happy memories for you. It's a very interesting park.
