A Canadian camping in the backcountry of Olympic National Park in Washington state was killed when a tree fell on his tent, according to a park release.
Thomas Bernier-Villeneuve, 34, hometown unavailable, was killed Tuesday evening, the release said.
Park staff received a notice through an inReach device that a tree fell on Bernier-Villeneuve's tent at Elk Lake, a remote wilderness campsite. The park rangers reached the scene by helicopter on Wednesday morning. The man's body was transferred to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
