Wildfire Closes Sage Creek Campground Of Badlands National Park

Lightning from a thunderstorm overnight ignited a wildfire in the Sage Creek area of Badlands National Park. The Sage Creek area is accessed via a dirt and gravel road approximately one-half mile (0.8 km) south of the Pinnacles Entrance. The landscape all around there is mixed-grass prairie prone to ignition due to the dry summer.

Temporary Closure Of Chain Of Craters Road To Vehicles At Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park

Cracks on Chain of Craters Road that formed on July 21 between Hilina Pali Road intersection and the Maunaulu parking lot have widened due to this continued seismic activity, so the park has temporarily closed the road at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.
