A nearly century-old railroad ballast bridge at Grand Canyon National Park is in deteriorated condition and needs to be replaced, according to the National Park Service, which is seeking public comment on the matter.

Long-shuttered businesses along the Blue Ridge Parkway, including the Bluffs Lodge, could reopen if the National Park Service receives any interest from businesses willing to take on the challenge.

Cane River Creole National Historical Park will reopen the Magnolia Plantation on Saturday following an almost six-month closure due to road repair work. The Magnolia Plantation grounds and outbuildings will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Park staff will conduct tours of the grounds Wednesday through Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Operational changes at Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site, a park in southeastern Colorado that represents an 1840s' trading post along the Santa Fe Trail, have drawn concerns that the site is losing is living history programming.
