The Municipality of Jasper has released a map showing the initial damage assessment of structures impacted by the biggest fire to sweep through Jasper National Park in more than a century. About 30 per cent of the town's structures — 358 of 1,113 — were damaged but critical infrastructure was saved.

Jasper Townsite Fire Damage Pegged At 30 Percent

Parks Canada estimates fire damage to the townsite in Jasper National Park to be 30 per cent. It has revealed that 358 of 1,113 structures within the Alberta mountain town have been destroyed in the fast-moving blaze that forced the evacuation of 25,000 people.

Government Wash At Lake Mead NRA Closing To Vehicle Access And Overnight Camping

Overuse of the Government Wash Area of Lake Mead National Recreation Area by visitors who have been staying indefinitely, and resulting damage to cultural resources, crime, and illegal road creation has prompted the National Park Service to close the area to vehicles and overnight campers.

North Cascades National Park Wildfire Threatens Stehekin

A wildfire approaching 31,000 acres in size on Thursday threatened Stehekin in North Cascades National Park in Washington state, with officials warning residents and travelers there to be ready to evacuate.
