Cedar Breaks National Monument in Utah plans to open for the summer season on Friday, May 28, Memorial Day Weekend.

Chiricahua National Monument in Arizona, in partnership with the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association, will be hosting a special dark sky event Saturday to celebrate the park's certification as the 104th International Dark Sky Park.

Zebulon Pike traveled quite a bit of the United States back in 1806-07, and today there's a mountain named after him. The National Park Service wants to know whether there should be a national historic trail tracing his travels.

With Ocracoke Light at Cape Hatteras National Seashore in need of repairs due to storm damage, the National Park Service staff is debating how much effort and expense to put into that work, and is seeking public input on the matter.
