Black Canadian Cowboy Recognized With Historic Plaque

John Ware was a Black cowboy who built a successful ranching career in Canada despite having been enslaved in America and then enduring racism and rough frontier conditions. Now he has been designated as a person of national historic significance under Parks Canada’s National Program of Historical Commemoration.

Young Grizzly Siblings Removed From Jasper Townsite

When two, young grizzly bear siblings spotted in Jasper townsite couldn’t be deterred by hazing recently, Jasper National Park wildlife specialists had to translocate the three-year-old bears — a step that’s only used when absolutely necessary.
