Lassen Volcanic National Park Beginning Transition To Winter

Fall is dropping temperatures, and a dusting of snow, at Lassen Volcanic National Park in northern California, which means winter can't be too far off. Visitors should be prepared for changing conditions including below freezing nighttime temperatures, limited campsites and visitor services, and temporary effects of fire management activities.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado grew by more than 9,300 acres Thursday via acquisition of land from the Medano Ranch owned by The Nature Conservancy, although the conservation group will continue to have use of the land for up to seven years, according to an Interior Department release.
